My wife and I have been guardians of many dogs over the years. I used to think of that responsibility as being an ownership thing however since having gone through some life saving and life changing cardiac surgery a little over seven years ago I now think of our role as guardianship when it comes to animals.. In October of last year my wife learned that a lifetime close friend of hers had, a few weeks earlier, been picked by another Jersey Acres Bernedoodle and had settled in very well. We made a couple of trips to Jersey Acres, met Anneloes and, more significantly, met Ophelia. At that time she was a wee little pup, not yet eight weeks old. By the time of our second visit Ophelia had determined that she had found her forever guardians. On October 29, 2019, we made another trip to Jersey Acres and returned home with Ophelia. She has been a wonderful addition to our home! Smart as can be, she understands the body language and other things about other animals. She IS a dog’s dog! In my books, that is a very high compliment. On the first morning that she was home she and I met a gentleman in the park who was flabbergasted that at 8 weeks of age and having only been ‘home’ for less than 24 hours she already was attentive and ‘came’ on the run from approximately 30m away in a park with all manner of distractions. I have been in touch with Anneloes several times since Ophelia came home and now am taking this opportunity to let others know about Jersey Acres and ‘the dogs’.
