Bernese Mountain Dogs

The Bernese Mountain Dog is originally from Switzerland where they lived for generations as farm dogs, to herd and protect cattle and sheep. Sometimes they were used as draft dogs. In the winter they love to play in the snow, jump in a snow bank and dig into it. A lot of fun to see!! Because they have a thick coat, they do not get as cold as other dogs. Winter is enjoyable for them. They are great companions and very faithful family dogs. Excellent with children and love to play with them. They are easy to train because of their high intelligence and they love to please their owners.

Bernese Mountain Dog/Poodle. This newer hybrid breed has the best of both breeds. The smarts of both breeds and the perseverance of the poodle with determination to love people of both breeds again. They can be strong headed like the Bernese but we need to keep in mind that they love to please their “person”. Once they learn something new, it is easy for them to remember and just do what you ask them to do. Great pets, love to focus on “their” people and can’t get enough of time with people. Their coat is low to non shedding, because of that they make great pets for people with allergies. They need to be groomed about every 3 months to clip their coat and it is always so nice to have them back looking very cleaned up. Their coat is shorter again and easier to brush and keep clean. It all depends on personal preference how long a person let their doodle’s coat grow. Bernedoodles come in a variety of color mixes. In some litters there will be more puppies that tend to have more of a Bernese look, other litters have more black and brown. Some puppies are black and white and some puppies are solid black. No matter what color they have, Bernedoodles are stunning and always get people’s attention.  Some puppies coats change over time and other puppies will keep the black top coat throughout their lifespan. It all depends on the different parent’s colors.

Poodles have also been around for many years. The poodles were originally bred for hunting, particularly water fowl. They are good swimmers and
